In Friday's non-league contest, the visiting Essex Trojans basketball team scored a close 60-55 win over the Charles City Panthers.
The Trojans (2-0) will now prepare for their contest against Jamestown (Williamsburg, VA). The Eagles come into the non-league contest with a 4-3 record. In their last contest, Jamestown was tipped by Warwick (Newport News, VA), 67-32, in a non-league contest.
In their next game, the Panthers battle the Middlesex Chargers (Saluda, VA) in a Tidewater contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Charles City will attempt to better on its 3-8 season record.
