The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Cumberland County Panthers (Burkesville, KY) and the visiting Jackson County Blue Devils (Gainesboro, TN), observed Cumberland County's basketball team edge Jackson County by a margin of 60-55.

The Panthers (5-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Metcalfe County (Edmonton, KY). The Hornets come into the District 16 challenge with a 5-7 record. In their last challenge, Metcalfe County was tipped by Clinton County (Albany, KY), 68-54, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Blue Devils battle the Pearl-Cohn Firebirds (Nashville, TN) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Jackson County will attempt to better on its 9-2 season record. The Firebirds come into the challenge with a 3-5 record after their 101-65 non-league loss to Mount Tabor (Winston-Salem, NC).
