The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the East Providence Townies (East Providence, RI) and the host Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI), observed East Providence's basketball team edge Smithfield by a score of 55-48.

The Townies (4-3) will now prepare for their challenge against North Kingstown (North Kingstown, RI). The Skippers come into the Division I challenge with a 2-2 record. In their last challenge, North Kingstown was tipped by Classical (Providence, RI), 74-57, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Sentinels encounter the Barrington Eagles (Barrington, RI) in a Division I challenge, on Monday, January 6. Smithfield will attempt to improve on its 2-3 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 6-1 record after their 41-33 league win over Mt. Pleasant (Providence, RI).
