The crowd at Friday's non-league challenge between the Friends Academy Quakers (Locust Valley, NY) and the host Long Beach Marines (Long Beach, NY), observed Friends Academy's basketball team edge Long Beach by a score of 75-71.

The Quakers (4-4) will now prepare for their challenge against Wheatley (Old Westbury, NY). The Wildcats come into the Section 8 VIII challenge with a 1-3 record. In their last challenge, Wheatley was tipped by Academy Charter (Hempstead, NY), 60-55, in a non-league challenge.

In their next game, the Marines encounter the Valley Stream Central Eagles (Valley Stream, NY) in a Section 8 AA-2 challenge, on Monday, January 13. Long Beach will attempt to improve on its 0-1 season record.
