In Friday's non-league contest, the host Leading Edge Academy - GEC Spartans basketball team scored a close 44-39 triumph over the Florence Gophers.
The Spartans (6-2) will now prepare for their contest against Desert Christian (Tucson, AZ). The Eagles go into the non-league contest with a 4-7 record. In their last contest, Desert Christian was tipped by Phoenix Christian (Phoenix, AZ), 45-32, in a non-league contest.
In their next game, the Gophers confront the Seton Catholic Sentinels (Chandler, AZ) in a 3A Central contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Florence will attempt to better on its 1-9 season record. The Sentinels go into the contest with a 10-4 record after their 63-26 non-league win over North Valley Christian Academy (Phoenix, AZ).
