Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) and the host Craig County Rockets (New Castle, VA), saw Giles's basketball squad wallop Craig County by a count of 64-38.

With the victory, Giles upgrades its record to 6-12 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Auburn (Riner, VA) to play the Eagles in a Mountain Empire challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 15-4. Auburn won 71-39 in their recent league challenge against Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA)

Next up, the Rockets play the Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA) in a Pioneer challenge, on Friday, February 3. Craig County will attempt to upgrade on its 3-12 season record. The Green Waves come into the challenge with a 16-3 record after their 78-41 league win over Bath County (Hot Springs, VA).
