The Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) basketball nipped the host Maroa-Forsyth Trojans (Maroa, IL), 48-44 in Monday's league test.
The Warriors (20-8) will now prepare for their test against Riverton (Riverton, IL). The Hawks go into the Sangamo test with a 5-19 record. In their last test, Riverton was tipped by Illini Central/Greenview (Mason City, IL), 50-38, in a league test.
The Trojans now own a 16-12 record. They play next when they travel to Pleasant Plains for a Sangamo test on Thursday, February 2. Maroa-Forsyth will encounter a Cardinals squad coming off a 58-19 league win over Auburn (Auburn, IL). The Cardinals record now stands at 19-6.
