The Winston Red Birds basketball team (Winston, MO), was nudged 44-42 in Tuesday's league battle with the visiting Mercer Cardinals (Mercer, MO)
The Cardinals now possess a 8-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Tri-County for a HDC battle on Thursday, February 1. Mercer will battle a Mustangs team coming off a 49-39 non-league loss to North Harrison (Eagleville, MO). The Mustangs record now stands at 3-11.
The Red Birds (7-9) will now prepare for their battle against Grundy County/Newtown-Harris (Galt, MO). The Panthers come into the HDC battle with a 15-3 record. In their last battle, Grundy County/Newtown-Harris edged Gilman City/North Daviess (Gilman City, MO), 68-59, in a league battle.
