The Niles Vikings (Niles, MI) basketball nipped the visiting St. Joseph Bears (St. Joseph, MI), 56-54 in Tuesday's non-league test.
The Vikings (13-2) will now prepare for their test against Otsego (Otsego, MI). The Bulldogs go into the Wolverine B test with a 12-3 record. In their last test, Otsego got by Gull Lake (Richland, MI), 63-51, in a non-league test.
The Bears now own a 5-8 record. They play next when they travel to Portage Central for a Southwestern Michigan - West test on Friday, February 2. St. Joseph will encounter a Mustangs squad coming off a 52-34 league loss to Lakeshore (Stevensville, MI). The Mustangs record now stands at 10-3.
