First Baptist School Hurricanes (Charleston, SC) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Cardinal Newman Cardinals (Columbia, SC), 54-36 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, First Baptist School upgrades its record to 19-8 on the campaign. The Hurricanes host Northwood Academy (Charleston, SC) to play the Chargers in a SCISA AAAA Region III bout on Friday, February 2. The Chargers come into the bout with a record of 19-2. Northwood Academy won 71-28 in their recent league bout against Porter-Gaud (Charleston, SC)

Next up, the Cardinals play the Wilson Hall Barons (Sumter, SC) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 31. Cardinal Newman will attempt to upgrade on its 4-13 season record. The Barons come into the bout with a 10-7 record after their 56-24 non-league loss to Porter-Gaud (Charleston, SC).
