The Lakewood Piners (Lakewood, NJ) basketball nipped the host Liberty Lions (Jackson, NJ), 47-44 in Tuesday's league test.

The Piners (3-10) will now prepare for their test against St. Joseph (Hammonton, NJ). The Wildcats go into the non-league test with a 7-8 record. In their last test, St. Joseph got by Buena (Buena, NJ), 39-35, in a league test.

The Lions now own a 1-17 record. They play next when they travel to Shore Regional for a non-league test on Thursday, February 1. Liberty will encounter a Blue Devils squad coming off a 54-29 league win over Donovan Catholic (Toms River, NJ). The Blue Devils record now stands at 10-6.
