In Thursday's non-league contest, the host Luverne Cardinals basketball team scored a big 85-54 triumph over the Southwest Minnesota Christian Eagles.

The Cardinals (12-7) will now prepare for their contest against Adrian/Ellsworth (Adrian, MN). The Dragons go into the non-league contest with a 8-12 record. In their last contest, Adrian/Ellsworth was trounced by Westbrook-Walnut Grove (Westbrook, MN), 79-50, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Eagles battle the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen (Edgerton, MN) in a A Section 3 challenge, on Friday, January 31. Southwest Minnesota Christian will attempt to improve on its 10-8 season record. The Flying Dutchmen come into the challenge with a 8-7 record after their 76-72 league loss to Murray County Central (Slayton, MN).
