Union Academy Cardinals (Monroe, NC) boosters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the host Valor Preparatory Academy Owls (Concord, NC), 73-52 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Union Academy upgrades its record to 10-6 on the year. The Cardinals host Albemarle (Albemarle, NC) to face the Bulldogs in a 1A/2A Yadkin Valley match on Friday, January 31. The Bulldogs enter the match with a record of 1-16. Albemarle lost 43-38 in their recent league match against South Stanly (Norwood, NC)

The Owls now sport a 5-13 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Piedmont Community Charter for a 1A Metro 8 match on Friday, January 31. Valor Preparatory Academy will face a Patriots squad coming off a 74-69 league loss to Carolina International (Concord, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 8-9.
