The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Sumter County Panthers (Americus, GA) and the host Kendrick Cherokees (Columbus, GA), observed Sumter County's basketball team knock off Kendrick by a score of 57-45.

The Panthers (11-9) will now prepare for their challenge against Jordan (Columbus, GA). The Red Jackets come into the AA Region 1 challenge with a 2-15 record. In their last challenge, Jordan was knocked off by Columbus (Columbus, GA), 68-47, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Cherokees encounter the Spencer Greenwave (Columbus, GA) in a AA Region 1 challenge, on Saturday, February 1. Kendrick will attempt to improve on its 12-8 season record. The Greenwave come into the challenge with a 14-6 record after their 84-58 league loss to Carver (Columbus, GA).
