Somerset Spartans (Somerset, WI) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Elk Mound Mounders (Elk Mound, WI), 48-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Somerset upgrades its record to 4-7 on the season. The Spartans travel to Prescott (Prescott, WI) to play the Cardinals in a Middle Border bout on Friday, January 7. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 7-3. Prescott lost 61-35 in their recent non-league bout against Durand (Durand, WI)

Next up, the Mounders play the Boyceville Bulldogs (Boyceville, WI) in a Dunn-St. Croix bout, on Thursday, January 6. Elk Mound will attempt to upgrade on its 9-2 season record. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a 0-11 record after their 41-30 non-league loss to Clayton (Clayton, WI).
