Johnston Panthers (Johnston, RI) backers were pleased Thursday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Providence Country Day Knights (East Providence, RI), 60-42 in a league bout.

With the victory, Johnston upgrades its record to 6-1 on the campaign. The Panthers travel to Shea (Pawtucket, RI) to play the Raiders in a Division 2 bout on Friday, January 5. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 3-4. Shea won 69-55 in their recent league bout against Burrillville (Harrisville, RI)

Next up, the Knights play the Rogers Vikings (Newport, RI) in a Division 2 bout, on Monday, January 8. Providence Country Day will attempt to upgrade on its 0-4 season record. The Vikings come into the bout with a 5-3 record after their 50-49 league loss to Times Squared Academy (Providence, RI).
