In Saturday's non-league contest, the host Santa Paula Cardinals basketball team scored a good 55-43 triumph over the Rio Mesa Spartans.

The Cardinals (10-8) will now prepare for their contest against Carpinteria (Carpinteria, CA). The Warriors go into the Citrus Coast contest with a 4-4 record. In their last contest, Carpinteria was toppled by Santa Maria (Santa Maria, CA), 61-41, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Spartans confront the Santa Clara Saints (Oxnard, CA) in a non-league contest, on Monday, January 6. Rio Mesa will attempt to better on its 5-9 season record. The Saints go into the contest with a 2-3 record after their 54-39 non-league loss to Cate (Carpinteria, CA).
