The Cumberland Clippers basketball team scored 52 points and held the visiting East Greenwich Avengers to 37 in the Clippers non-league triumph on Thursday.

The Clippers now sport a 3-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Narragansett for a State Championship contest on Wednesday, January 11. Cumberland will battle a Mariners team coming off a 93-60 league loss to Bishop Hendricken (Warwick, RI). The Mariners record now stands at 5-5.

The Avengers (3-5) will now prepare for their contest against Bishop Hendricken (Warwick, RI). The Hawks enter the State Championship contest with a 6-1 record. In their last contest, Bishop Hendricken ran past Narragansett (Narragansett, RI), 93-60, in a league contest.
