Zuni Thunderbirds (Zuni, NM) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Evangel Christian Academy/Oak Grove Classical Academy Eagle (Albuquerque, NM), 40-35 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Zuni upgrades its record to 6-1 on the season. The Thunderbirds travel to Menaul (Albuquerque, NM) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Friday, January 6. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 6-4. Menaul won 53-34 in their recent non-league bout against Ramah (Ramah, NM)

Next up, the Eagle play the Coronado Leopards (Gallina, NM) in a A District 7 bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Evangel Christian Academy/Oak Grove Classical Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 3-2 season record. The Leopards go into the bout with a 2-5 record after their 38-35 non-league loss to Northwest (Shiprock, NM).
