In Thursday's non-league outing, the Montezuma Braves (Montezuma, IA) basketball squad nipped the visiting Prairie City-Monroe Mustangs (Monroe, IA), by a margin of 57-56.
The Braves (8-1) will now prepare for their outing against English Valleys (North English, IA). The Bears go into the South Iowa Cedar outing with a 7-3 record. In their last outing, English Valleys got by Highland (Riverside, IA), 54-44, in a non-league outing.
The Mustangs now own a 5-6 record. They play next when they host Oskaloosa for a non-league outing on Monday, January 9. Prairie City-Monroe will clash with a Indians squad coming off a 47-33 league win over Newton (Newton, IA). The Indians record now stands at 5-4.
