Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the North Pontotoc Vikings (Ecru, MS) and the visiting East Union Urchins (Blue Springs, MS), saw North Pontotoc's basketball squad knock off East Union by a count of 49-36.

With the victory, North Pontotoc upgrades its record to 7-13 on the campaign. The Vikings host Byhalia (Byhalia, MS) to play the Indians in a 4A Region 2 challenge on Tuesday, January 9. The Indians come into the challenge with a record of 3-7. Byhalia lost 74-64 in their recent league challenge against New Albany (New Albany, MS)

Next up, the Urchins play the Walnut Wildcats (Walnut, MS) in a 2A Region 1 challenge, on Tuesday, January 16. East Union will attempt to upgrade on its 9-7 season record.
