The Huss Huskies basketball team (Gastonia, NC), was nudged 61-57 in Friday's non-league battle with the host Shelby Golden Lions (Shelby, NC)

The Golden Lions now possess a 5-5 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Bessemer City for a 1A/2A Southern Piedmont battle on Tuesday, January 9. Shelby will confront a Yellow Jackets team coming off a 72-44 league loss to East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 3-11.

The Huskies (2-7) will now prepare for their battle against Kings Mountain (Kings Mountain, NC). The Mountaineers come into the 3A Big South battle with a 7-3 record. In their last battle, Kings Mountain was nudged by Weddington (Matthews, NC), 72-60, in a non-league battle.
