Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Calvin Cougars (Calvin, LA) and the host Jena Giants (Jena, LA), saw Calvin's basketball squad hold off Jena by a tally of 51-50.

With the victory, Calvin improves its record to 10-13 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Georgetown (Georgetown, LA) to confront the Bulldogs in a C District 2 challenge on Thursday, January 11. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 4-17.

Next up, the Giants confront the Bunkie Panthers (Bunkie, LA) in a 3A District 2 challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Jena will attempt to improve on its 7-8 season record. The Panthers come into the challenge with a 10-4 record after their 50-27 non-league win over Avoyelles (Moreauville, LA).
