Hopewell Blue Devils (Hopewell, VA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Hermitage Panthers (Richmond, VA), 72-56 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Hopewell upgrades its record to 10-0 on the campaign. The Blue Devils host Petersburg (Petersburg, VA) to play the Crimson Wave in a Central bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Crimson Wave come into the bout with a record of 3-5. Petersburg won 37-34 in their recent non-league bout against Booker T. Washington (Norfolk, VA)

Next up, the Panthers play the Godwin Eagles (Richmond, VA) in a Colonial bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Hermitage will attempt to upgrade on its 4-5 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 7-4 record after their 43-28 non-league loss to The Covenant (Charlottesville, VA).
