Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Woonsocket Villa Novans (Woonsocket, RI), 58-16 in a league bout.

With the win, Smithfield upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The Sentinels host Chariho (Wood River Junction, RI) to play the Chargers in a Division 2 bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Chargers go into the bout with a record of 4-1. Chariho won 66-32 in their recent league bout against Coventry (Coventry, RI)

Next up, the Villa Novans play the West Warwick Wizards (West Warwick, RI) in a Division 2 bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Woonsocket will attempt to upgrade on its 0-8 season record. The Wizards go into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 43-41 league loss to Mount St. Charles Academy (Woonsocket, RI).
