Miller County Pirates (Colquitt, GA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Abbeville Christian Academy Generals (Abbeville, AL), 59-57 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Miller County upgrades its record to 6-7 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Quitman County (Georgetown, GA) to play the Hornets in a A D2 Region 1A bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Hornets come into the bout with a record of 4-9. Quitman County won 50-42 in their recent non-league bout against Baker County (Newton, GA)

Next up, the Generals play the Lakeside School Chiefs (Eufaula, AL) in a AISA AA Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Abbeville Christian Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Chiefs come into the bout with a 0-11 record after their 43-18 non-league loss to Evangel Christian Academy (Montgomery, AL).
