The Pine River-Backus Tigers basketball team scored 66 points and restricted the visiting Verndale Pirates to 27 in the Tigers league victory on Friday.

The Tigers now sport a 4-3 record. They put it on the line next when they host Park Rapids for a non-league contest on Monday, January 9. Pine River-Backus will battle a Panthers team coming off a 80-42 league loss to Barnesville (Barnesville, MN). The Panthers record now stands at 1-7.

The Pirates (1-5) will now prepare for their contest against Henning (Henning, MN). The Hornets come into the non-league contest with a 9-0 record. In their last contest, Henning triumphed over Brandon/Evansville (Brandon, MN), 74-63, in a league contest.
