The Santa Maria Cougars basketball team scored 55 points and held the visiting Premont Cowboys to 38 in the Cougars league triumph on Friday.

The Cougars now sport a 6-8 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Freer for a 2A Region IV District 32 contest on Tuesday, January 10. Santa Maria will meet a Buckaroos team coming off a 76-47 league win over Kaufer (Riviera, TX). The Buckaroos record now stands at 8-5.

The Cowboys (3-17) will now prepare for their contest against Ben Bolt (Ben Bolt, TX). The Badgers enter the 2A Region IV District 32 contest with a 4-14 record. In their last contest, Ben Bolt was defeated by San Isidro (San Isidro, TX), 63-49, in a non-league contest.
