Verdigris Cardinals (Claremore, OK) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Tecumseh Savages (Tecumseh, OK), 40-33 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Verdigris upgrades its record to 7-2 on the campaign. The Cardinals host Tahlequah (Tahlequah, OK) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 7. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 6-0. Tahlequah won 49-42 in their recent non-league bout against Bishop Kelley (Tulsa, OK)

Next up, the Savages play the Jones Longhorns (Jones, OK) in a North Canadian River bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Tecumseh will attempt to upgrade on its 1-2 season record. The Longhorns come into the bout with a 7-2 record after their 35-34 non-league win over Kingfisher (Kingfisher, OK).
