Oakwood Comets (Fithian, IL) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Chrisman Cardinals (Chrisman, IL), 39-26 in a league bout.

With the victory, Oakwood upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Comets travel to Iroquois West (Gilman, IL) to play the Raiders in a bout on Friday, February 3. The Raiders come into the bout with a record of 7-3.

Next up, the Cardinals play the Martinsville Bluestreaks (Martinsville, IL) in a non-league bout, on Monday, January 9. Chrisman will attempt to upgrade on its 2-4 season record. The Bluestreaks come into the bout with a 1-0 record after their 35-34 non-league win over Graham (Bluefield, VA).
