The Henning Hornets (Henning, MN) basketball knocked off the visiting Staples-Motley Cardinals (Staples, MN), 61-45 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Hornets (9-2) will now prepare for their test against Verndale (Verndale, MN). The Pirates go into the non-league test with a 1-7 record. In their last test, Verndale went down by Swanville (Swanville, MN), 61-58, in a league test.

The Cardinals now own a 5-4 record. They play next when they host Pierz for a AA Section 7 test on Tuesday, January 9. Staples-Motley will encounter a Pioneers squad coming off a 62-48 non-league loss to Mora (Mora, MN). The Pioneers record now stands at 4-5.
