Illinois High School Basketball - Thornton nips Metamora

January 6, 2024: Harvey, IL 60426

Thornton Wildcats (Harvey, IL) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Metamora Redbirds (Metamora, IL), 63-62 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Thornton upgrades its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Thornridge (Dolton, IL) to play the Falcons in a Southland bout on Tuesday, January 9. The Falcons come into the bout with a record of 1-13. Thornridge lost 70-51 in their recent non-league bout against Crane Medical (Chicago, IL)

Next up, the Redbirds play the Washington Panthers (Washington, IL) in a Chicago Public - Blue South bout, on Tuesday, January 9. Metamora will attempt to upgrade on its 13-4 season record. The Panthers come into the bout with a 9-7 record after their 64-49 non-league loss to Mt. Zion (Mt. Zion, IL).
