The Shabazz Bulldogs (Newark, NJ) basketball nipped the host Verona Hillbillies (Verona, NJ), 44-42 in Saturday's league test.
The Bulldogs (5-4) will now prepare for their test against Hudson Catholic (Jersey City, NJ). The Hawks go into the non-league test with a 8-5 record. In their last test, Hudson Catholic got by De La Salle (Chicago, IL), 68-53, in a non-league test.
The Hillbillies now own a 3-7 record. They play next when they host Newark Collegiate Academy for a non-league test on Tuesday, January 9. Verona will encounter a Panthers squad coming off a 63-38 non-league win over Science Park (Newark, NJ). The Panthers record now stands at 7-1.
