Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Athens Bulldogs (The Plains, OH) and the visiting Lancaster Golden Gales (Lancaster, OH), saw Athens's basketball squad overcome Lancaster by a tally of 57-43.

With the victory, Athens improves its record to 9-3 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Wellston (Wellston, OH) to play the Golden Rockets in a Tri-Valley - Ohio challenge on Thursday, January 11. The Golden Rockets come into the challenge with a record of 5-6.

Next up, the Golden Gales play the Pickerington Central Tigers (Pickerington, OH) in a Ohio Capital - Buckeye challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Lancaster will attempt to improve on its 7-5 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 10-1 record after their 78-41 league win over Groveport-Madison (Groveport, OH).
