The Hoover Buccaneers (Hoover, AL) basketball nipped the host Hancock Hawks (Kiln, MS), 44-41 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Buccaneers (14-4) will now prepare for their test against Vestavia Hills (Vestavia Hills, AL). The Rebels go into the 7A Area 5 test with a 19-3 record. In their last test, Vestavia Hills got by Tuscaloosa County (Northport, AL), 56-29, in a league test.
The Hawks now own a 17-1 record. They play next when they travel to Long Beach for a 6A Region 4 test on Tuesday, January 9. Hancock will encounter a Bearcats squad coming off a 47-39 non-league loss to Greene County (Leakesville, MS). The Bearcats record now stands at 7-9.
