New Jersey High School Basketball - Payne Tech can't hold off West Essex

The West Essex Knights basketball team scored 57 points and held the host Payne Tech Lions to 53 in the Knights non-league triumph on Saturday.
The Knights now sport a 4-5 record. They put it on the line next when they host West Morris Central for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 9. West Essex will battle a Wolfpack team coming off a 47-16 non-league win over Dover (Dover, NJ). The Wolfpack record now stands at 8-3.
The Lions (5-3) will now prepare for their contest against Verona (Verona, NJ). The Hillbillies enter the Super Essex - Colonial contest with a 5-3 record. In their last contest, Verona was nudged by Bloomfield (Bloomfield, NJ), 44-42, in a non-league contest.
