In Monday's non-league contest, the visiting Crestwood Comets basketball team scored a close 44-42 triumph over the Loyalsock Township Lancers.

The Comets (8-2) will now prepare for their contest against Wyoming Valley West (Plymouth, PA). The Spartans go into the Wyoming Valley 1 contest with a 5-6 record. In their last contest, Wyoming Valley West was tipped by Pittston (Pittston, PA), 47-32, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Lancers confront the Warrior Run Defenders (Turbotville, PA) in a Heartland III contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Loyalsock Township will attempt to better on its 8-1 season record. The Defenders go into the contest with a 0-10 record after their 52-14 league loss to Bloomsburg (Bloomsburg, PA).
