The East Side Red Raiders basketball team (Newark, NJ), was nudged 58-57 in Saturday's league battle with the host Columbia Cougars (Maplewood, NJ)
The Cougars now sport a 9-3 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Irvington for a Super Essex - American battle on Tuesday, January 10. Columbia will battle a Blue Knights team coming off a 64-54 non-league win over Payne Tech (Newark, NJ). The Blue Knights record now stands at 10-1.
The Red Raiders (8-3) will now prepare for their battle against Seton Hall Prep (West Orange, NJ). The Pirates come into the Super Essex - American battle with a 8-1 record. In their last battle, Seton Hall Prep edged Hudson Catholic (Jersey City, NJ), 55-53, in a non-league battle.
