The South Pontotoc Cougars basketball team scored 49 points and restricted the host Hernando Tigers to 32 in the Cougars non-league victory on Saturday.

The Cougars now sport a 13-6 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Houston for a 4A Region 2 contest on Tuesday, January 10. South Pontotoc will battle a Hilltoppers team coming off a 66-31 non-league win over Houlka (Houlka, MS). The Hilltoppers record now stands at 4-5.

The Tigers (2-8) will now prepare for their contest against South Panola (Batesville, MS). The Tigers come into the 6A Region 3 contest with a 11-3 record. In their last contest, South Panola prevailed over Southaven (Southaven, MS), 58-38, in a league contest.
