Junction City Tigers (Junction City, OR) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Phoenix Pirates (Phoenix, OR), 34-33 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Junction City upgrades its record to 6-8 on the campaign. The Tigers host Santiam Christian (Corvallis, OR) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Wednesday, January 11. The Eagles come into the bout with a record of 8-3.

Next up, the Pirates play the Mazama Vikings (Klamath Falls, OR) in a 4A Skyline bout, on Friday, January 13. Phoenix will attempt to upgrade on its 7-6 season record. The Vikings come into the bout with a 4-7 record after their 43-16 non-league win over North Bend (North Bend, OR).
