In Saturday's non-league battle, the visiting Newton County Cougars soccer squad scored a close 5-1 triumph over the Clarkdale Bulldogs.
The Cougars (2-2) will now prepare for their battle against West Lauderdale (Collinsville, MS). The Knights come into the 4A Region 4 battle with a 16-2 record. In their last battle, West Lauderdale nudged Louisville (Louisville, MS), 15-0, in a non-league battle.
The Bulldogs (4-8) will now prepare for their battle against Morton (Morton, MS). The Panthers come into the Class 1 Region 5 battle with a 1-6 record. In their last battle, Morton by Southeast Lauderdale (Meridian, MS), 3-0, in a league battle.
