Sands Mustangs (Ackerly, TX) supporters left the game happy Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Iraan Braves (Iraan, TX), 62-56 in a non-league match.

With the victory, Sands advances its record to 13-4 on the year. The Mustangs host Grady (Lenorah, TX) to meet the Wildcats in a 1A Region I District 6 match on Friday, January 10. The Wildcats enter the match with a record of 5-5.

The Braves now own a 5-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Fort Hancock for a 2A Region I District 6 match on Friday, January 10. Iraan will meet a Mustangs squad coming off a 70-49 non-league loss to Immanuel Christian (El Paso, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 11-8.
