Utah High School Basketball - Merit Preparatory Academy knocked off by Salt Lake Academy

In Tuesday's league test, the Salt Lake Academy Griffins (Herriman, UT) basketball squad knocked off the host Merit Preparatory Academy Knights (Springville, UT), by a score of 25-15.
Next, the Griffins encounter the Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams Marauders (Lehi, UT) in a 2A Region 16 test, on Friday, January 10. Salt Lake Academy will attempt to improve on its 3-3 season record. The Marauders come into the test with a 1-11 record after their 24-19 league win over American Prep WV (West Valley City, UT).
The Knights (1-4) will now prepare for their test against American Leadership Academy (Spanish Fork, UT). The Eagles come into the non-league test with a 9-3 record. In their last test, American Leadership Academy beat Maeser Prep Academy (Lindon, UT), 39-15, in a league test.
First Quarter
Two early mid-range jumpers from Lovely Cisneros led to an early lead.
Second Quarter
Overall, defensive rebounding, deflections, defensive energy and timely buckets from Aisha Carreon and Addison Patrick helped extend the lead.
Third Quarter
Despite not finding the basket on the offense side, SLA's defensive energy effort remained high.
Fourth Quarter
SLA staved off the Third Quarter by attacking the hoop in the Fourth Quarter and getting to the free-throw line.
