Isle of Wight Academy Chargers (Isle of Wight, VA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad bounce the host Gateway Christian (Virginia Beach, VA), 50-26 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Isle of Wight Academy upgrades its record to 5-1 on the campaign. The Chargers host Nansemond-Suffolk Academy (Suffolk, VA) to play the Saints in a non-league bout on Thursday, January 11. The Saints come into the bout with a record of 0-6. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy lost 45-29 in their recent non-league bout against Perquimans (Hertford, NC)

Next up, the play the Atlantic Shores Christian Seahawks (Chesapeake, VA) in a VISAA Division II bout, on Friday, January 12. Gateway Christian will attempt to upgrade on its 2-7 season record. The Seahawks come into the bout with a 3-2 record after their 57-15 non-league loss to Hampton Roads Academy (Newport News, VA).
