Brookesmith Mustangs (Brookesmith, TX) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the host Panther Creek Panthers (Valera, TX), 54-27 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Brookesmith upgrades its record to 9-9 on the season. The Mustangs travel to Richland Springs (Richland Springs, TX) to play the Coyotes in a 1A Region III District 17 bout on Friday, January 13. The Coyotes go into the bout with a record of 0-1.

Next up, the Panthers play the Rising Star Wildcats (Rising Star, TX) in a non-league bout, on Tuesday, January 10. Panther Creek will attempt to upgrade on its 1-3 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 7-3 record after their 52-43 non-league loss to Santa Anna (Santa Anna, TX).
