Mahanoy Area Golden Bears (Mahanoy City, PA) backers were in high spirits Monday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Lincoln Leadership Academy Lions (Allentown, PA), 39-35 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Mahanoy Area upgrades its record to 5-2 on the season. The Golden Bears travel to Tri-Valley (Hegins, PA) to clash with the Bulldogs in a Schuylkill County 2 bout on Thursday, January 12. The Bulldogs go into the bout with a record of 11-1. Tri-Valley won 52-40 in their recent league bout against Minersville (Minersville, PA)

Next up, the Lions clash with the Notre Dame Spartans (East Stroudsburg, PA) in a Freelance bout, on Thursday, January 12. Lincoln Leadership Academy will attempt to upgrade on its 6-7 season record. The Spartans go into the bout with a 6-4 record after their 68-43 non-league win over Salem Christian (Macungie, PA).
