Fans at Monday's league challenge between the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces (Mt. Carmel, IL) and the visiting Newton Eagles (Newton, IL), saw Mt. Carmel's basketball squad hold off Newton by a tally of 43-36.

With the victory, Mt. Carmel improves its record to 9-10 on the campaign. The Golden Aces host Casey-Westfield (Casey, IL) to confront the Warriors in a Little Illini challenge on Monday, January 23. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 6-19. Casey-Westfield lost 44-35 in their recent league challenge against Richland County (Olney, IL)

Next up, the Eagles confront the Robinson Maroons (Robinson, IL) in a non-league challenge, on Saturday, January 14. Newton will attempt to improve on its 9-10 season record. The Maroons come into the challenge with a 14-5 record after their 44-34 non-league win over Flora (Flora, IL).
