Prairie Central Hawks (Fairbury, IL) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting St. Joseph-Ogden Spartans (St. Joseph, IL), 47-44 in a league bout.

With the victory, Prairie Central upgrades its record to 12-5 on the campaign. The Hawks travel to Pontiac (Pontiac, IL) to play the Indians in a Illini Prairie bout on Thursday, January 12. The Indians come into the bout with a record of 4-11. Pontiac won 48-47 in their recent league bout against Paxton-Buckley-Loda (Paxton, IL)

Next up, the Spartans play the Illinois Valley Central Grey Ghosts (Chillicothe, IL) in a Illini Prairie bout, on Thursday, January 12. St. Joseph-Ogden will attempt to upgrade on its 7-12 season record. The Grey Ghosts come into the bout with a 7-10 record after their 58-30 league loss to Bloomington Central Catholic (Bloomington, IL).
