The Lakeland Thunderbirds basketball team scored 80 points and held the visiting Hayward Hurricanes to 66 in the Thunderbirds non-league triumph on Tuesday.

The Thunderbirds now sport a 7-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Mosinee for a Great Northern contest on Friday, January 12. Lakeland will battle a Indians team coming off a 70-58 league win over Rhinelander (Rhinelander, WI). The Indians record now stands at 11-1.

The Hurricanes (2-9) will now prepare for their contest against Cumberland (Cumberland, WI). The Beavers enter the Heart O'North contest with a 5-5 record. In their last contest, Cumberland was defeated by Spring Valley (Spring Valley, WI), 83-71, in a non-league contest.
