Odem Owls (Odem, TX) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the host Woodsboro Eagles (Woodsboro, TX), 54-52 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Odem upgrades its record to 9-13 on the season. The Owls host Mathis (Mathis, TX) to play the Pirates in a 3A Region IV District 29 bout on Friday, January 12. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 11-10. Mathis won 59-24 in their recent non-league bout against Hebbronville (Hebbronville, TX)

Next up, the Eagles play the Port Aransas Marlins (Port Aransas, TX) in a 2A Region IV District 31 challenge, on Friday, January 12. Woodsboro will attempt to improve on its 7-18 season record.
